You may have noticed that things are a little different at FontShop.com these days. We’re not the sort to go changing just for the sake of it, nor to toot our horn when it doesn’t warrant tooting, but it was time for a FontShop facelift, and we’re pretty proud of the results.

Sporting more than just a shiny new exterior, the new FontShop.com boasts some solid improvements under the hood, too. Our Font Detail pages have always been the place to get the nitty-gritty on every font in the shop, but the new advanced Character Set viewer lets you see every glyph of every font so you can get even more nitty and gritty.

What’s in that Font Again?
Fonts with non-standard character sets — like the ligatures in Avant Garde Gothic Alternate, Classica Prestige, and Mrs Eaves Just Ligatures — are no longer a mystery. You’ll see exactly what gorgeous glyphs you’ll get every time.

Dingbats Just Got Smarter
Picture and symbol fonts are now revealed in all their splendor. Craving a croissant? Poppi’s got it. Client needs a good set of arrows? Point them to FF Dingbats. Pleased by the planes and trains of artist Alessio Leonardi but want to see every delightful drawing up close? Crank Ale Transport’s Character Set up to 74pt.

OpenType® Features
OpenType fonts offer new typographic power and flexibility, but with thousands of glyphs per font, it can be difficult to see everything that’s included. Our Font Detail pages now list each OT font’s supported features. Choose a feature to narrow the Character Set to just those glyphs that apply. A glimpse at small caps, tabular figures, and ornaments are just a click away.

Swashes and Alternates
Many OpenType fonts offer multiple versions of the same glyph, extending the versatility of faces like FF BeoSoft® and improving the natural flow of script fonts like P22 Cezanné Pro. You won’t miss a single extra with our new Character Set viewer. Whenever you see an arrow next to a character, click it for a peek at the alternates. It works just like the Glyphs palette in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator CS.
